INTERSPIRITUALITY

A sharing from NES VP: Dr. Kurt Johnson

Dear Ethnical Culture Community:
It’s exciting to let you know, you and your work are included in the two historic new volumes– INTERSPIRITUALITY:  THE HERITAGE and INTERSPIRITUALITY: THE FUTURE— published on the 25th Anniversary of Br. Wayne Teasdale naming the paradigm 25 years ago in his now classic book The Mystic Heart: Discovering a Universal Spirituality in the World’s Religions.  The Opening Message is by H. H. the 14th Dalai Lama (who wrote the Foreword to Br. Wayne’s original book), the Foreword by Matthew Fox (who had also named this paradigm “Deep Ecumenism”), and the Afterword by Ken Wilber (who worked so closely with Br. Wayne on Integral & Interspirituality’s prophetic vision). ONE HUNDRED TWENTY GLOBAL SPIRITUAL LEADERS join the volumes in extensive sections on history, vision, and reports of exciting interfaith and interspiritual work around the world.
A full list of all Contributors is here: https://www.lightonlight.us/2025/09/15/interspiritualvolumes/ including varied bookseller links [to note only one:  Amazon links are

https://amzn.to/4obD9Af for Vol. 1 and https://amzn.to/47pQX4d for Vol. 2.

The books right now appear as the NO. 1 book at Amazon in the categories of ecumenism, and, consciousness and thought.
The timelines and commentaries in the volumes note the importance of key Ethical Culture communities, especially Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New Jersey in nurturing the interfaith community and early dialogues that were foundational in the New York area and in the United Nations community in the spirit of Felix Adler’s vision of the Ethical Manifold.  This includes, as also noted in the volumes, the important conference on Altruism (across science and the global interfaith community) which was held, and filmed, at NYSEC’s Adler Library and followed up by a partnered conference at the Gold Hill Historic Site in Colorado a month after the Adler Library event, and a further event thereafter, the Crestone (CO) Leadership Conference which then led to the 2024 Pre-Event we held in NYC (at Cathedral St. John the Divine) in advance of the UN Summit of the Future.

It’s been wonderful to include you and your work and we hope your story in the midst of this nearly 1000 pages of this history and messaging of the interspiritual vision will further inspire your own work and dedications to the interfaith messaging so important to our world right now.   And, please let others across our global faith communities to know about these important volumes following on the legacy of the interspiritual paradigm and your own pioneering work in trans-traditional spirituality and community.

Best from all of us at Light on Light (winner of 8 Nautilus Awards and Nautilus’ 2024 Award for “Best in Small Press”.
